Fauxdidas Gets Slapped by European Court of Justice

Planning on a redesign of your company logo?

Make sure your designers do their homework. If it looks too much like your competitors’ mark, you not only run the risk of being lame and unoriginal—you might just be unlawful, too. At least on The Continent.

The European Court of Justice ruled against all parties involved in making a line of sports products branded identically to the distinctive three-stripe Adidas line.

A spokeswoman for Adidas, pronounced “add-i-dass” by our British cousins told the BBC that, “We do not seek to prevent the use of decoration, but the use of striped markings that confuse consumers, or cause them to make a link with our company.”
